Senior Director of Foundation Relations
Michelle V. Joyce became Senior Director of Foundation Relations in January 2018 after serving as Director on the team with a focus on science and engineering beginning July 2016. In addition to special projects, Michelle serves Chemistry & Biochemistry, Biology, ECI, and Harper, among other campus units. Prior to her role in development, Michelle was the Associate Director of the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility in Notre Dame’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry where she served as a Special Professional Faculty member for 12 years. Michelle earned her B.S. in chemistry from Notre Dame and her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Duke University.
Director of Foundation Relations
Suzanne DeGuilio joined the Foundation Relations team in August 2018, with a focus on the Keough School of Global Affairs, the Notre Dame Law School, the Mendoza College of Business, Economics, Political Science and the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs. She previously served Notre Dame’s Office of Development as the Associate Director for the Cavanaugh Council and President’s Circle. Suzanne holds a J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law and a B.A. in Journalism from Loyola University Chicago.
Director of Foundation Relations
Amanda Retartha joined the Foundation Relations team in November 2016, with a focus on the College of Arts and Letters, the Alliance for Catholic Education, the Hesburgh Libraries, the Snite Museum of Art, the Institute for Church Life, and the School of Architecture, among other campus units. She previously served Notre Dame’s Office of Special Events & Stewardship as the lead for the endowed professorship and library collection stewardship programs. Amanda holds a Ph.D. in English from New York University and an M.A. and B.A. in English from Notre Dame.
Tom Scrace joined the Foundation Relations team in August 2018, with a focus on the College of Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, and Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics. Prior to coming to Notre Dame, he worked as an Associate Editor in the books department at an academic publishing company. Tom holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, specializing in experimental condensed matter physics, and a B.S. in Physics from Notre Dame.
Lori Ehrman Tinkey joined University Relations in November 2017, with a focus on research, analysis, special projects, and strategy relating to corporate and foundation partnerships. In prior roles in the University’s Mendoza College of Business from 2012 to 2017, she established the Mendoza Behavioral Laboratory (MBL), served as Institutional Review Board (IRB) Liaison, and was instrumental in research/writing for top-tier journal articles as well as U.S. leading textbooks in Organizational Behavior (OB) and Staffing. Lori holds an M.N.A. (Masters in Nonprofit Administration) from Notre Dame and a B.S. in Business from Indiana University-Bloomington.
FR Regional Associate
Ernestine Gardner joined the Foundation Relations team in 2008 as an administrative assistant. In her current role as FR Regional Associate, she serves the administrative needs of the Foundation Relations team, with a primary focus on data entry and analysis. Prior to coming to Notre Dame, she worked in Admissions and Financial Aid at both Drew University and Boston University. She holds B.A. in English from BU, and still enjoys taking the occasional English or history course on campus whenever she can.
Assistant Director of Foundation Relations
Colleen Cross joined the Foundations Relations Team in December 2018 and currently serves as an Assistant Director, with a focus on the Center for Civic Innovation, the Center for Social Concerns, the Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative, the Robinson Community Learning Center and smaller proposals across disciplines. She recently received her PhD in Peace Studies and Theology from Notre Dame and previously worked for Notre Dame's Institute for Latino Studies, coordinating its immigration initiative. Colleen holds an M.T.S. in Systematic Theology from Notre Dame and a B.A. in Religious Studies and Classics from the University of Arizona.
