Michelle V. Joyce joined the Foundation Relations team with a focus on science, engineering, and research in July 2016. Prior to her role in development, Michelle was the Associate Director of the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility in Notre Dame’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry where she served as a Special Professional Faculty member for 12 years. In 2010, Michelle created the ND LIGHTS program that develops experiments for and donates retired scientific equipment packages to resource-limited schools. Michelle received her B.S. in chemistry from Notre Dame and her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Duke University.

Jonathan Hannah is Director of Foundation Relations, In his current role, he works with the Notre Dame Law School, the Mendoza College of Business and the Keough School of Global Affairs. Also a Moreau Faculty Instructor, Jonathan is an instructor in Notre Dame’s First Year Experience program. He has previously worked as a Policy Analyst in Washington, D.C., and has been an instructor at the Lewis University College of Business.  Jonathan holds a B.A. in Political Science from Saint Xavier University, an M.Sc. in Management from Lewis University and a J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy. He was a Fulbright scholar in 2015 and participated in an International Education Administrator program in Germany.

Amanda Retartha joined the Foundation Relations team in November 2016, with a focus on the College of Arts and Letters, the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, the Hesburgh Libraries, and the Snite Museum of Art. She previously served Notre Dame’s Office of Special Events & Stewardship as the lead for the endowed professorship and library collection stewardship programs. Amanda holds a Ph.D. in English from New York University, specializing in celebrity and fan studies, and an M.A. and B.A. in English from Notre Dame.

Ernestine Gardner

Ernestine Gardner joined the Corporate and Foundation Relations team in 2008 as an administrative assistant. In her current role as CFR Regional Associate, she serves the administrative needs of the Foundation Relations team, with a primary focus on data entry and analysis. Prior to coming to Notre Dame, she worked in Admissions and Financial Aid at both Drew University and Boston University. She holds B.A. in English from BU, and still enjoys taking the occasional English or history course on campus whenever she can.
